Wilson House August Recap

One of the busiest months of the year...

This past August was one of the busiest months we have endured as a family to date. Getting used to a brand new schedule with my oldest at a different school, and my youngest starting his first year of preschool was a lot on its own. Add my ever-changing schedule as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor, and it gets pretty interesting. Throw in my husband being out of town relatively often, and my vehicle breaking down; that's enough chaos, right? Nope. Let's add some brand new baby chicks and continue working on our house projects (moving the water hose spicket and trimming limbs around the treehouse). As if that isn't enough, I keep making more and more plans for the garden, chicken coop and future greenhouse. One day, all of this will be done, and we will be able to look at it all and enjoy. For now, it's chaos, but it's fun chaos at least.

We are in the stage of everything being so crazy yet adorable with the boys. Bennett is six and thinks he's so big. He's the sweetest big brother (most of the time) and so smart. Everett is four and going through a very sweet phase. He really likes the fact that he too is a big brother and can help teach our youngest new things (not sure how helpful that is because he's very mischievous). Abbott is almost two and seriously thinks he's as big as his brothers. All he wants to do is be with them and do what they do. He is a little sweet heart full of adventure.

It's easy to let the chaos control our moods. The simplest of tasks can turn into madness, but my husband and I both try our best to see the good in every situation with the boys. Does that mean it's always sunshine and rainbows? Absolutely not. Sometimes we blow up in the moment. Sometimes we say things we shouldn't. Sometimes we get too caught up in the moment when really we should be letting it roll off our shoulders. It's easy to let that happen, but when we actually enjoy the moment we are in, it's always worth it. They don't stay this little for very long.

In the midst of the craziness, my husband works full time, and I work part time at the Covington YMCA and online with my Whole Health with Lana crew. In August, the city of Covington asked the Y to host workouts on the square, which led to me teaching my Konga classes to the community every Saturday all month long. It was so fun! It was hot, but it was fun! So many people from the community showed up, and I had half of my normal class show up to support me most days. On our last day, we got coffee together after sweating on the square. Other times in August, my class participants and I gathered to get tacos and go for a walk on the trails after class. It truly helps to be a part of a community. We love being a part of Covington and all it has to offer for our family!
