Food, fitness and family.
I started Whole Health with Lana in February of 2020. I had no idea what was in store for the year of 2020, but I tried my hardest to provide what I could for as many people as possible. I am still learning all of the technology of the online business world, but my first year was so difficult. I taught myself how to properly record myself, how to edit long workout videos, how to build a website, how to create my own advertisements, and so much more I won't bore you with right now. The point is: year one was hard. I knew what I was doing was important though. I wanted to create a business dedicated to whole health living and simplifying it for those who struggle to make time for healthy decisions. Whole health living isn't just a one size fits all diet and workout plan. It's an all encompassing lifestyle that focuses on the practice of moderation. I wanted to re-introduce this to everyone for those who may be new to the website. You can watch this quick video of me explaining our every day life at home living the way I help others to achieve.
I chose to start these videos to give everyone a better visual of what we do here in the Wilson house. I know social media can tell a story, but there's only so much you can take away from a short clip or a picture with a cute caption. I want people to see the actual work that goes into whole health living. Yes, it's a lot. No, it isn't perfect. Yes, we could do more, but with where we are at in our lives, I'd say we are doing what we can. We have been working nonstop over here on the garden and the yard, and we finally got chickens (this has been on my bucket list for forever)! You can watch the second video to this series just below here where we introduce the chickens to our home and their temporary situation.
In these videos, I'm making an effort to show how I'm stopping to make time for my healthy food decisions. In the video above, I show how I stop to prepare some overnight oats for the next day's breakfast. One simple and quick decision that helps me out the next day. In my third and latest video, I show how I make myself an Adult Egg Sandwich with one of my chicken's eggs. Taking the time to go the extra step and put in the little extra work can make a big difference over a period of time. My goal is to show that it's important to make time for yourself. Even if it means stopping for 5 minutes to prep overnight oats.
My other goal for these videos is to show just how difficult it is to maintain a healthy lifestyle with kids. It is not easy with all of the convenience thrown at us at all times. Our kids are basically given candy and chocolate for every holiday, and fast food is sadly the norm for a lot of families. I want to show that, YES, it is HARD. It is very hard to get your kids to eat healthy. Yes, it is hard to make time for yourself when your kids still need you for the 100th time of the day. Yes, it is hard to focus on your own mental health when your own kids are acting a fool at school... I GET IT! I'm with you. I'm living it as well, but you know what? You still need to make time for you. Because if you don't, your health goes down the drain, which helps no one. Your kids, your family, your friends all want you around, and you can do something about it by making time for yourself.
I hope that this new video series does just that. I will continue to summarize a few at a time with extra tips along the way. Some things to look forward to are: the making of the chicken coop, finishing the garden, farmers market with the kids, how I attempt to discipline my three year old, and more cooking in the kitchen (some with the kids). I sincerely hope you enjoy this.
