As the temperature rises, we spend more and more time outdoors. We finished the school year with a few field trips; Abbott's little class had a "Nature Day" at the Academy Springs Park in Covington. It was precious. They did a little scavenger hunt and played all over the playground with all of the classmates. The end of the school year also means school programs and spring sports ending.
May is such a busy time, and yet we managed to fit in another Whole Health social (Mother's Day edition) at The Clock Tower Escape Room in Covington. We had cocktails beforehand at City Pharmacy, which made the escape room that much more fun. If you go, I recommend the shrimp en baguette and/or the Maryland crab dip to split with a group. As far as cocktails goes, I am on a gin martini kick; however, there are always new and delicious drinks they are creating, and they are always so good! As for the escape room, be aware that you must reserve a spot, and you must arrive 15 minutes early. We went to the Stranger Things room, which was super fun. We got out in about 45 minutes, which surprised us all! Even with all of the fun we had, I could not be more happy to be moving into summer with less chaotic plans.
With the even warmer weather approaching, I decided to purchase a small pool for the yard along with a three pack of tube floats and small water guns. In addition, I decided to get Abbott a small sensory bin table and the Amazon brand sensory play sand (it even came with little sand toys!). Lastly, I bought a bulk order of big bubble wands, a bulk order of water balloons and a 3 pack of hopper balls. To say the least, I believe we are set for the summer! The boys have definitely enjoyed it so far.
When we're not playing, we're working in the yard. Everett has really taken a liking to helping me with harvesting anything and everything in the garden. We have had SO MUCH snap peas and strawberries. It has been an amazing beginning to the season. I will most definitely be planting even more strawberries and and snap peas next year because we have thoroughly enjoyed eating them and sharing with friends. If you haven't tried any gardening, I highly recommend trying one of these. The strawberries come back every year and will actually expand if not contained. You can keep them in a container easily too. Mine are in a barrel container. I just planted a new strawberry plant in the ground in hopes of it expanding on its own. All the snap peas need is a trellis of some sort, and that's it!
I've been planting nonstop. When it's not in the garden, it's in the flowerbeds. Every time I go to the store, I see new flowers I want for the yard. It's a hassle for me to go into Tractor Supply for chicken feed and wood flakes because I somehow come out with yet another tomato plant and/or more flowers. I can't be the only one like this, right?! You can watch my recap video below here to have a visual on all the things listed above in this post. I hope you enjoy!
