The easiest "to go" meal for you and the kids.
My mother-in-law and I were sitting on the beach when she scrolled past this idea: the snackle box. I don't know who it was that posted it, but I took the idea and have loved it ever since. The idea is to take a tackle box and fill it with snacks for the kids. I didn't have a tackle box, but I did find an arts and crafts box that did the trick.
I'm not sure if this is with every kid, but with my boys, as long as I put it in snack form, they usually eat the healthy foods I give them. If I plate the food in a more formal way, they are less likely to eat it. In our snackle box, I try to add fresh fruits and vegetables cut up in bite sizes, and I usually add a sandwich or two that's cut up in small bites or in fun shapes. Yogurt tubes are a great option to throw in as well. I've also made other ones with cheese crackers, pretzels and grapes for road trips. You can get creative with it!
I make myself a wrap so that I have something to eat with them. Wraps are just so easy for on the go, and you can stuff them with pretty much anything. Next time you have a play date at the park or have a long car ride, pack a snackle box with some healthy options for the kids (and you). See if it helps with making healthier choices on the go and let me know how it went!
