Plus, making a greenhouse tunnel.
We topped off our summer with extra playground visits and a trip to the splash water pad at Ayers Park. The kids have had such a great summer this year. I wanted to make this summer a little more special because it was the one before Bennett started kindergarten. Ever since school started, our schedules have been turned upside down. So I'm glad that we took the extra time to have a few special days this summer.
We were handed down a hanging jungle gym, and I untangled and hung it one afternoon by myself. Thank goodness my husband fixed it and properly hung it higher later. The boys have had a blast learning how to climb the ladder, but they still need help moving from one handle to the next. The rock climbing pieces, however, they have mastered, which allows them to climb halfway up the tree.
In the midst of all the summer fun, I have made attempts to improve the garden and prepare for the upcoming fall and winter gardens. I put together a greenhouse tunnel, which was a task by myself, but I managed to do it. My plans are to have lettuce and kale under the tunnel. For now, the other beds are still doing great producing tomatoes, beans, okra and kale. I'm so impressed with this year's garden. It's amazing what good, new soil can do!
