Catching a Frog & a Baseball Game

All the boy related things over here.

We have been getting sweaty and dirty all summer long at our house and at the parks, etc. The boys have explored into the woods and actually found a bramble bush! I had found this when we first moved in but saw no sign of them the next year. I was so upset. The boys randomly came across them, and I was so excited that I ventured around our whole tree line to see how far they go. I even found some wild muscadines! Hopefully, I will be able to harvest some later this year (fingers crossed).

Meanwhile, I have had to patch up the chicken coop yet again due to a predator. I had boarded up the wall that was previously messed up, but obviously, I didn't secure it enough. So, I'm venturing into new ways to board the girls up in their coop while still giving them plenty of room.

We made our way to a Braves game this summer thanks to one of my best friends handing over a few spare tickets. We had a blast even though the game was delayed a couple of hours. There were tons of games for the boys to have fun with while we waited on the ball game to start, and of course, we ate hot dogs and hamburgers in the stadium. Yes, you read that correctly. We ate hot dogs and hamburgers. It's okay to splurge on unhealthy foods on occasion. You won't ruin all of your progress by enjoying one meal! Anyway, the boys had never been to a baseball game and really enjoyed the experience. I must say, we will likely bring them back for another game this season!

In the garden, I have been experimenting with using leftover egg shells in the soil to add some extra calcium. Calcium is beneficial for tomatoes, so that's exactly where I put them. I have been able to pull a few potatoes so far. This was mostly for me to see how big they were getting. I pulled from just one plant, and it was plenty for my husband and I to eat with our dinner one night. If we keep this up, I will have plenty of potatoes for a night or two per week for at least another five or six weeks. This has been such a lovely gardening season, and I can't wait to see what else we get from it by the end of summer!
